Read – VERY important:

In pilot language, the “final approach” is when your plane is ready to land.  You’re still in the air, but you’re committed to land. There’s no turning back. As a passenger, you may feel that little is happening, but the pilot has to check many things to ensure a safe landing. Wheels are out, flaps extended, etc., etc.  Now is not the time to relax…

A good final approach makes all the difference between a hard and a soft landing.

Today is your final approach. Tomorrow, we touch down after a whirlwind journey.  You’ve seen a lot, you’ve learnt a lot. But a few important things still have to happen to make sure the landing is smooth and graceful.

Let’s begin with the 72 hour fast.

It is so encouraging to get feedback from those who completed the long fast. They triumphed over fear, cleansed their livers and boosted organ renewal.  All of this works together to FIRE diabetes even more.  So… if you haven’t done it yet, please plan to do it in the next 2 weeks.  Write down your dates TODAY, so that you cannot wriggle your way out later.  If you are really, really scared of a 72 hour fast, plan a 48 or 60 hour fast, at the very least. If you don’t write down that date today, you’re unlikely to ever get around to it.  Do it NOW!

If you did complete the 72 hour fast, CONGRATULATIONS! But plan your next one TODAY.  About a month from now.  Implement some of the things you learned from the previous fast to make the next one even easier.  Try and get a buddy to join you on the next one.

In total, you will probably need three or four of these 72 hour fasts to really cleanse your liver of unwanted fat and toxins.  Now that you know you can do it, don’t hesitate.

It’s the best gift you can give yourself, your spouse, your children and your grandchildren.  Every time you do it, you will end up with more energy and vitality.

OK, that was Tip One: Set your date for the (next) 72 hour fast TODAY.

The second point is just as important: Complete your Daily Check-In

It really is very important! By completing today’s questions, you allow us to provide you with a “bird’s eye view” of your progress over the past 40 days.  When you’re in the thick of things, you often feel as though nothing is shifting. But when you compare the right markers, you suddenly see the bigger picture. Help us to bring you the full picture. Complete your Personal Health Record. Do it NOW.

Thirdly, it is time to reflect.

Take some time today, think back about what happened to you these past weeks, and how you will face the next weeks.  Nothing goal-oriented, just walking through the meadow of your mind and picking some daisies (highlights) that come to mind when you think back on the journey.  Do you think you can keep doing this FIRE stuff for the rest of your life?

Next: it’s time to make some firm commitments for the future.

Are you going to continue the 23 hour fasts? How often? What are your blood glucose and weight goals? Don’t forget to set fun goals, too, fun times to spend with friends and family. Set new goals, if old goals have been achieved.

The one big difference between a belly flop and a graceful landing lies in the word “accountability“.

Here’s some really exciting news…

Those who finish a FIRE journey don’t just want to ride off into the sunset. To fully restore metabolic health and to reach your target weight will probably need longer than 40 days. You just have to persist a bit longer, using the tools we provide, to eventually achieve the right results. HERE IS HOW TO DO YOUR FIRE LIFESTYLE PLANNING FOR THE NEXT 6 MONTHS:

  1. Set the date for your next 72 hour fast.
  2. Go back to your worksheets of the Pre-training week, where you set your goals, allayed your fears, gathered a team around you and got out of the blocks. Reflect on your progress as part of your daily uninterrupted quiet time. Make a few notes. Remember positive self-talk!
  3. Then complete the following questionnaire to help you take stock of your progress. The moment you have completed the questionnaire, there should be an email (from Google Forms) with your responses in your email inbox.
  4. Use these responses and the Future Planning F-word Checklist to guide you as you start to plan the next phase of your journey to keep Diabetes FIRED:
    • Set new (or the same) goals for the next 6 months.
    • Work out plans to reach each goal.
    • Plan your routine in such a way that you would be able to tick the boxes on the checklist. Remember, every day is a new day; a new beginning.
    • Have mercy on yourself.
    • Use encouraging words.
